Crystal Gardenia, and What it Stands for

On November 15th, Kim Kardashian added fragrance connoisseur/saleswoman to her drawn-out job description. Only the Queen Kardashian could shock us all with the newest, never-before-seen business tactic: hosting an instant online sellout of her very first fragrance collection, one of which had never been sniffed by a single customer.

The reality television icon released a trio of floral scents inspired by healing crystals she used to get over the heartbreak of her Paris robbery. She credits the crystals, given to her by friends and family, for allowing her to recover during her media hiatus, and continue on creating her cosmetics line, along with the idea of a perfume trio as a significant extension to the brand. “I really loved the idea of being so pure, and taking that time to do what makes you happy and healthy from everything you have going on in this crazy, chaotic life,” Kardashian told People Magazine.

Many were stunned to see how quickly she sold the 300,000 bottles initially all while no one had ever even smelled the perfumes. Though, on the other hand, it’s not that shocking given the rare, affordable prices and the fact that they were produced by Kim herself. The three scents- Crystal Gardenia, Crystal Gardenia Citrus, and Crystal Gardenia Oud- are all variations of floral, energizing bases explained to serve different purposes for different occasions, or moods. Sold in matte glass, crystal shaped bottles at $35 (30 ml) and $60 (75 ml), Kardashian wasted no time taking in over $10 million in the first 24 hours.

Luckily, Kardashian took to Twitter days later to announce that there would, in fact be a restock, which happened to occur on Thanksgiving day, November 23rd. If you want to smell like a Crystal Gardenia, turns out, it’s not too late after all… but act fast!
